Scarves: Bringing a bit of Europe to the USA

Recent travels to both Italy and Holland educated me on Europe’s love affair with the scarf. In Italy, kiosks full of scarves are as common as gelato carts and popular with both men and women.  Italian men sported scarves, sun glasses and fabulous shoes as they trekked around town. Scarves for sale were unisex patterns and worn by all.

The Dutch are just as addicted to their scarves! I marveled at both women and men, dressed for work with fashion scarves and fabulous shoes, pedaling their way to work on bicycles. Though not in sidewalk kiosks, scarves were for sale at every clothing shop I visited and worn by many.

I purchased scarves in both countries and wear them often mostly to remind myself of European women and men, who really know how to dress well, mix trendy with classic, and add scarves to complete the outfit. In Europe, the scarf is the “IT” accessory.

So I searched for and found a source for fabulous scarves for Finders Keepers, with very modern and European designs. The summer scarves have been popular and the fall scarves have begun arriving. A current trend for this accessory is the infinity scarf, which is easy to manage and fun to wear. Stop by and try one on.

So far I have just found women’s fashion scarves but I am searching for the male counterpart, even though I’m not sure if our American men are ready for a “fashion” scarf. What do you think?

The Man Chair

We took these blog pictures in what will soon be Finders Keepers Menswear! Our landlords just finished their part of the build-out (it's called a "white box" - stripped down floors and white walls... oh the possibilities!) and granted us the "certificate of occupancy," which means we get to -finally- move in and get down to business. The fellas may not want to hear it, but it's often so very true: behind every great man is a strong woman. And these fierce and fiesty boutique girls are going to make sure Atlanta's men have a great place to save money, make money, and shop smart!

In this look: Missoni dress, size 4 $89, new Valentino heels, size 38.5 $269 (retail $675), Chez Bella gloves $10, Earrings $12, Carolina Herrera handbag $67, scarf $10

Additional shoes: New Jimmy Choo heels, size 38.5 $330 (retail $790), Valentino heels, size 38.5 $148, New Armani heels, size 38 $254 (retail $685)

"I almost fainted... literally." That was the email that I got from the manager of our Boutique when she sent me pictures of new arrivals yesterday. I had to pinch myself as I scrolled through the images of the new inventory: a beautiful, quilted Chanel handbag, a Judith Leiber evening clutch with mirror and change purse, a diamond and black onyx David Yurman neclace, a Chanel necklace, a Judith Ripka 3 piece jewelry set, a Nancy Gonzalez crocodile clutch, and a Prada handbag. Check out the pictures below!

Here at Finders Keepers Fashions we are ready for spring! This week of lovely weather is like gasoline on the flame - winter: it's time to take a hike! Jamilla's look of the week is definitely a clear indicator that she's ready for warmer weather. If it's still too chilly to go strapless, consider tossing on a neutral tone boyfriend blazer or denim jacket and a pair of boots! Still not covered up enough? Try a pair of fun tights to add a fun touch and to keep your legs warm.

p.s. WINTER CLEARANCE HAS BEGUN! All winter merchandise at Finders Keepers Fashions is now 1/2 off the original price!

Falling in love... with some AWESOME new arrivals!

I'm not the biggest Valentines Day fan there ever was. Maybe it's because when I was 17, my first serious boyfriend gave me a pair of khaki overalls for valentines day.... I wish I was kidding, but I'm not. So ever since then I "eh" at the thought of getting excited for the red-hearted, hallmark-driven 14th of February. Well Cupid must be determined to make me reconsider, because here we are, two weeks before the day o' love, and in walk the most spectacular are-you-seriously-giving-this-up designer consignment accessories we've had in a long, long time. A Chanel handbag, several pairs of Christian Louboutin shoes (booties, wedges, and heels!), Oscar de la Renta boots, Jimmy Choo boots (and they're so super sexy it makes me want to take them out to some swanky retaurant I can't afford just so I can stare at them from across the table.... please don't judge me,) a Ferragamo handbag, Gucci heels, Manolo Blahnik heels, and Louis Vuitton heels, to name a few. Do you see what I mean?! So while I'm not rushing out to buy Valentines cards, I did feel the need to decorate these delicious delicacies with sparkly hearts. Hey, it just didn't seem right to not show my love!

p.s. - what's the worst/funniest/most memorable gift YOU ever got for Valentines day?

Lavender Love

I stopped by Finders Keepers Fashions to check out their inventory of sundresses. It's that time during Georgia's summer when the only things that merrily survive the daily burn are dandilions and whatever bugs those are that make that creepy, screaming buzzing noise from their perches in pine trees. When I rounded the corner of the building, already sweating from the fifteen feet I'd walked from my car, another lovely creature waved at me from the break bench by the employee entrance. Christie's purple sundress peeked out from the bushes and tall grass as she enjoyed a moment to herself, which I immediately interrupted and asked if I could take her picture. She just looked so happy in that dress, like she had a really great secret. Luckily she was a fantastic sport, and happily replied that she'd gotten her whole outfit at Finders Keepers. Well wasn't that just perfect? Even more perfect: all of the displays inside the store were hues of purple, and so a theme was born. Purple is a powerful color. It both soothes and inspires, calms and demands. I have a purple candle on my desk that I light and stare at whenever I've hit a creative wall. I think lulling myself into thinking about nothing in particular helps me get out of my own way.

Christie: a favorite muse of mine and always a good sport!

Layer shades of the same color for a chic, slimming look

Make a splash in a sea of black with a little purple dress
Purple shoes: every closet needs a pair!
Guys: we like you in lavender. It gives you an in-touch sensitivity that we're drawn to like moths to light

Great minds think alike! Christie and Jackie were riding the same brainwave this morning!

p.s. Store wide sale this Saturday only! All full-priced merchandise is 25% off! I'll be there to score some summer dresses.
